The technique used in the SecNurse is both simple as advanced. As the SecNurse works on the principle of image recognition (hardware) and image interpretation (software), a high level of reliability arises, especially compared to the existing “bed mats” or infrared detectors. This offers tranquility to the staff and privacy to the patient. Besides, the SecNurse is easy to install, can be placed everywhere (both permanent as ambulant), is easy to integrate in each nurse call system, maintenance free, easy to keep clean, hygienic and does not need physical contact with the patient.

Alarm output contact

The SecNurse sends an alarm to the existing nurse call system when the sensor detects that someone has left the bed, caused for example, by a fall or wandering. However, the SecNurse also can send this alarm after a specified time. For instance, if the patient has not returned to bed within 10 minutes. The time interval can be set according to the level of care required for each individual patient.

Privacy

As the sensor only reacts if necessary (false alarms belong to the past), the privacy of the patient is guaranteed and even improved, as the staff has not to react anymore on a false alarm. The camera technique used in the SecNurse is used for monitoring and interpretation within the sensor itself. No video images are provided. The only output contacts are two simple relays. The SecNurse is applicable in all kinds of care assistance and on all types of wards, as for instance psycho geriatric wards and closed wards.

Extra output contact

The SecNurse offers standard a second output contact (out of bed mode) that can be used according to individual needs of a patient. For example, you can switch a light to assist the patient in the dark but you can also connect this second contact to the existing nurse call system so the staff gets a notification that a patient has left his or her bed but is not in an alarm situation. In some situations it is needed that the SecNurse gives a contact (armed mode) to the nurse call system so that the nurse call system knows the sensor is turned on. The SecNurse offers this function through the second output contact. This function is optional available and will replace the above-mentioned standard extra output. The alarm contact and the extra contact can be easily integrated in each existing nurse call system.

Cost efficient

The SecNurse is a cost efficient alternative, which offers a lot of short-term advantages for the care organisation and a positive balance on your budget at the mid-term. No expensive and frequent replacements, caused through wastage and deficiencies, anymore and maintenance costs will be negligible.

The official new company name will be OPTEX Technologies B.V., trading as Optex. The Japanese company Optex Co., Ltd. was already shareholder of Secumatic for many years. Since the start of the cooperation between Optex Japan and Secumatic 15 years ago, the management of both companies decided that the time was right to strengthen the cooperation.

It is the joint strategy to increase the Optex market share in Europe. In the near future, you will benefit from a strong R&D department and the introduction of new products for their various markets.

Besides a change in our corporate identity Secumatic will remain the same company with the same employees, offering the same flexible and personal service you have always experienced with us.

Therefore Optex Co., Ltd., listed on the first level of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, acquired the majority of the shares in Secumatic B.V. As a result, Secumatic has become an official member of the Optex Group.
